Hey all...just wanted to write a quick note and tell you about my AWESOME find today. Perfect for you crafters who do shows. I was at Costco buying the usual bulk items when I came across the GREATEST folding table ever!

It is a six foot table. Legs fold in and then the entire table folds in half for easy storage. It took up no room at all and went into my trunk easy as pie. Not too heavy either. AND it carries a lifetime warranty. Yeah...I'm so excited!

I found it in the office supplies isle.

Good price at $49.00.

Yay!

I HEART Fabric!

I love fabric. I will spend hours on Etsy looking at fabric. I go to JoAnns Craft stores and spend ages looking and feeling fabrics. Of course, I do have one major obstacle. I can't sew. I can't even BEGIN to sew. I have tried. I even have a sewing machine upstairs gathering dust. Ahhh well. Perhaps one day with more time on my hands I will take some lessons....

But for now I have come up with a solution for my LOVE of fabric but LACK of sewing skills!

Traveling with the twins...

Long car rides with the twins can be really fun. Not quite as fun as the root canal I had a few years back,but almost.

In an effort to pass the time we started playing word and counting games with them. This inspired an immediate fierce competion between the two and ended in one crying "I don't know the answer and brother does!" and the other yelling "She's hurting my ears!"

After that really fun game we decided to quiz them a few simple things. After a few questions were anwered correctly we were on a roll. They proudly stated their address and state we live in once prompted. All feeling good about ourselves hubby asked one final question...

What country do we live in?

To which my 4yr old little guys ever so proudly exclaims...." The Mighty Snakes of Hysteria".

Hubby and I got a great laugh from that one. Reminding us just how fun this really can be.

I came across the cutest website named Shidonni. I just had to share with all of you. Such a simple idea...but brilliant! With the help of parents kids create an account at their website. The child then has instant access to an online whiteboard, and she is encouraged to draw on this whiteboard the animal of her dreams. When done, kids can draw a landscape for their animal, food for him to eat, and give him a name -- and create friends to play with. Shidonni animates this all, and your offspring can then watch the beast hop around on the screen while he eats his lunch.

That's no big deal you say? Well...here comes the kicker! For a fee they will then create a plush toy in the exact image of your childs drawing. And yes, they really do look just like the drawings!

My Shameful Secret

I have a shameful secret I am ready to share with the world. After all, the first step to recovery is admitting the problem. So here it goes....

I am a total slob when it comes to my car.

I have a serious case of "mom car-itis". This disease is brought on by small children with sticky hands, crumby clothing, and an insatiable appetite whenever we hit the road.

Why is it the minute we get going, barely out of the driveway, the "I'm Thirsty's & I'm Hungry's" hit. Does it come programmed in their little brains. Are they born with this natural ability?

I started out determined not to do this. My last car was horrifying. I promised my husband I would not do it again with this car. I even decided on black interior because I thought it would look cleaner. Now I realize black just shows every footprint, smudge, and dirt stain possible.

The drink cups are crusted. The seats are smudged. There is penicillin growing in at least 10 different areas. I currently have these items in the car right now:

2 bikes
2 bike helmets
shabby chic lampshade
bag of avacados
crayons
pens
paper
3 drink cups
fast food bag
2 sticky carseats
enough crumbs recreate 3 entire muffins
case chocolate milk

I think I should stop here...its getting embarrasing

I decided to look up this phenomenon on the internet. I was feeling so alone with my shameful secret. By merely typing in "messy car" I was awash with stories of moms and their filthy cars. Moms winning carwashes, detailing services, and container store gift cards from messy car contests. One mom even winning a brand new car for her mess on wheels.

This opened up a whole new world for me. Gave me a new outlook in my "messy car" recovery. No longer am I ashamed. I am now determined. Determined to have the messiest car around so I too can win some of these fabulous prizes.

Sounds a lot better than cleaning it.

Here is my daily dose of embarrasment. Graciously given to me by my 4 year old little boy...

Upon our arrival to school the teacher looks at my little girl and exclaims: "You got a haircut!" "It looks so nice."

To which my 4 year old little boy immediately (and loudly) responds: "We didn't get a haircut...we just combed our hair today!"

At least he spoke the truth....we did manage to comb our hair that day.

Hello All...

Gosh its been a l-o-n-g time. We moved a couple months ago. Saying it has been hectic is an understatement. Moving with twins...well...that is a whole other story.

Here are my top 10 pieces of advice if you are planning on moving:

1) Don't
2) Nothing can be fixed "easily" or "quickly"
3) "A little paint" does not fix anything at all
4) Carpet + untrained dogs of previous owners = DISASTER
5) Do NOT move right at the beginning of the holidays
6) Do NOT move until your children are old enough to move out of the house themselves
7) Spy on the neighbors before buying (I am convinced my neighbor is a serial
killer: more on that later)
8) No, you can't fix problems with the flooring by just "Putting a rug over it"
9) No, it is not easy to remove a yard full of half dead plants. Just because they
are dead does not mean they come out of the ground any easier!
10) No, you will not be able to "squeeze" that piece of furniture in the spot that is a good 10 inches too small. Even if you REALLY want to put it there.

Trust me...I have learned the hard way ;)

The Snail Whisperer

My little guy loves snails. He is your typical little boy..all dirt, bugs, and snails. I fondly refer to him as "The Snail Whisperer". I think that is hysterical. He, of course, has no idea what I am talking about.

Anyhow...we have a NO SNAIL rule in the house. And I thought this was actually one rule that was followed. Unfortunately today I found out that is certainly not the case.

After deciding to do a bit of deep cleaning in the kids rooms...I pulled out a bin from under my little boys bed. Amid what must be 400 lego pieces were literally 30 snails. Some dried up. Some not. Some wishing they were. After fighting an urge to run screaming from the room I gathered the bin, closed my eyes, and practically fell down the stairs trying to get this snail death box out of my house.

After a firm discussion with my little culprit we went back upstairs where he showed me two more hiding spots for his "pets". Luckily, these looked a little better and we released them to "go find their mommies".

Ahhh...little boys. Never a dull moment.

Juicy Couture Maclaren Stroller!

I am the first to admit I have a stroller problem. I need to go to "strollers anonymous". I need help. I am not kidding.

I have an unnatural obsession with strollers. Recently, I decided I needed another one. Took a quick trip to a local kiddie store to try some out. I found a nice Maclaren and decided I would look online for more color options.

It was then that I found THIS....

Yes ladies...you are seeing this correctly. (I know...it's hard to see though the tears of sheer joy.) A Juicy Couture Maclaren Stroller. And for the bargain price of only $450.00. I mean hey, it's an umbrella stroller. I am sure it cost them at least $25 to make it?!

Lets take another look....(BTW that foot muff in the last pic is an extra $125)

But here is where my "disease" kicks in. I really want it. It is calling my name. Yes, my little girl is already 4 and sits in a stroller about 5 minutes a month...but its pink AND brown! Besides the fact...what in the heck do I do with my other twin...let him walk? And of course the most obvious issue is the stroller is $450. For an umbrella stroller. Enough said.

So as common sense kicks in I am saddened. This lovely stroller is not meant to join my vast stroller collection. But I'm telling you right now...if they ever do a twin model I am all over it ;)

BTW if anyone ever actually buys one of these please let me know so I can live vicariously through you.

High School Reunion

The time has come. I open my email and look to see the dreaded words..."OHS REUNION". Sent to me by some still overly peppy classmate who seems to think this is going to be the greatest event of her lifetime.

I have to admit there was a glimmer of excitement in me. It passed quickly...but it was there. It happened before I realized that this body had twins.

As my thoughts began to wander I started thinking of plastic surgery. A little lift here, a little "puff" up there. "Why did I tan so much in my teens?"

After spending about $100,000 in my mind on my imaginary plastic surgeries I realized I may come out looking like this....

And I thought better of it.

Now don't get me wrong. I am not against a good nip and tuck...or even an implant here and there. But for this reunion I am going just as me. And you know what? Maybe that's not so bad.

Chewing "Chewie" Gum....R.I.P.

"Chewie" (click here to see his wanted poster) has been found. I am sad to report he is no longer of this world. His official obituary lies below:

"Chewie" entered into rest in Huntington Beach on May 21, 2009. He passed away sometime between the wash and dry cycles around 1:00 this afternoon. He leaves his pack of 12 other pieces of "chewies" behind. He will be missed.

Burial services have already been completed. He is now resting in the waste basket still stuck to about 5 pairs of my sons socks.

Chewie is gone but will not be forgotten. His memory lives on in the inside of my dryer, two t-shirts, and about 10 pairs of socks.

4 Year Olds and GUM....A deadly combination

Ahhh...what a day. My 4 year olds have discovered gum (or "chewie" ...as they like to call it). They love it. They beg for it all day long. They are obsessed. Why in the world do children love gum so much??

In a moment of sheer insanity I gave in. I had a moment of false confidence when everything seemed to be going ok..and then it happened.

Culprit #2 comes in and states: Mom, I lost my gum. It fell out of my mouth and I don't know where it is. (BTW he then blamed it on his sister..how she made gum fall out of his mouth I will never know)

Ok, great. After 6000 questions of where, when, and how in a desperate bid to find chewie...it is still a missing fugitive. (See wanted poster..."chewie" is not going to get a way with this!) Chewie was last seen somewhere around our couch and/or carpeted area.

Not more than 1 minute later I get a big UHH OHH from culprit #1. "Momma, my gum is stuck in my dress."

I reluctantly look over and find gum literally stretched across the entire front of her dress. "Stuck" doesn't even begin to cover the destruction.

After 14 ice cubes, a frozen hand, and a still sticky dress I have given up.

Anyone else have some fun GUM stories?

Potty Break...

I thought it was only me. I should have known better. Yes, I hide in the bathroom. I have since found out others do it too.

This all started when a fellow reader commented on my hard day with "Maybe you can lock yourself in the bathroom for 5 minutes."

You mean, really, it's not just me?

After a fit of laughter I began to think. This must be a common mom trick. Let me tell you a bit more about my technique. Perhaps it could be useful in your life too.

It comes on between 6 and 7pm. I'll look at hubby and say, "I have a stomach ache." I will then proceed to the bathroom, lock the door, and read magazines. No, of course I do not really need to go. What I need is a mommy time out. A time to stare at models in magazines, look at clothes, makeup, and reminisce about the way things used to be (and where some particular body parts used to be too).

I figured the man had to be on to me. I mean really...a stomach ache just about every night?! Then...just the other night while watching t.v. a commercial comes on. It is about Irritable Bowel Syndrome or IBS. Hubby looks over at me, eyes wide, and exclaims...."Oh, look at this commercial! I think that is what you have. You have a stomach ache every night after dinner!"

Poor, poor man. If he only knew :)

Happy Mother's Day Everyone....

Happy Mother's Day everyone! Children or not...I think every woman should be celebrated on Mother's Day. So go out and treat yourself to something special. A long walk, trip to the beach, a nap, or just some peace and quiet. Something like this looks nice ;)

Let me tell you a little bit of how my Mother's Day is going so far...

My husband is still asleep...it's 9:30a.m. I hope he is enjoying his sleep-in this morning. He will be punished for it the rest of the day ;)

My kids gave me the cards they made...then promplty took them away. Both exclaiming, "You can't keep them...they're ours!"

I have made breakfast, cleaned up breakfast, cleaned the kids, cleaned up the spilled water all over the floor, confiscated the gum they were trying to hide, been referee for two fights, and actually managed to get in 1 cup of coffee...all by 9:30 a.m.

Gosh, I just can't wait for the rest of my "relaxing" Mother's Day. Maybe I'll be extra lucky and get to see my Mother in Law too!

I finally figured it out!

OK...so it took me a bit of time to figure out how in the heck I can use a larger sized cabochon flower for my stud earrings. I love the look of the larger roses. They are about 19mm. (1 inch is about 26mm) My problem always was that the weight of the cabs would make them sag. Then one day...voila...an epiphany! Tried out my idea and it worked like a charm. No sag...just pure loveliness! I decided my first pair should be in my favorite milk pink color. Here they are!!

Why is it...the minute I get on the phone...my twins decide that they need to whine, cry, and have fits all at once?

Let me start by saying, I am NOT a phone person. I don't really like the phone at all. I use it for necessity only. Email me, text me, just don't call me. So its not like I chit chat all day and ignore my two darlings. Quite the contrary.

Today the phone rings. I barely say hello and my little girl has magically appeared right next to my leg. I swear not 2 seconds ago she was across the room. As I barely get out my second sentence to my caller she starts whining...

"I want a lolliop...moooooommmm"

(I try the wide-eyed stare and shake of the head)

"But moooommmmmyyyyy"

(I give her the quick shh and another stare)

"I waaaaannnnnttttt a lolliiiiii"

Ok...so now I have to stop my conversation, cover the earpiece, and tell her no again. Since this does not work at all I try a brisk walk to the other room. (she follows) Finally after 2 minutes of trying to outrun my 4 year old the caller realized I have not been listening to anything that they have said...and graciously lets me off the phone.

Now let me say...people always ask me. "Why didn't you call me back?" or "Why didn't you answer the phone?" Especially my dad. This irks me...as they know how impossible it is to talk on the phone. My favorite answer is.."Gosh...I don't know why I didn't answer...considering I stand around the phone all day just waiting for it to ring...I just don't know how I could have possibly missed it." That usually shuts them up ;)

Is it just me...or do kids have a built in phone monitor that triggers a whining, crying response whenever they hear it ring?!

Flower Shop...

My twins wanted to make their own flower shop. "Great!" I say. Go in the backyard and play. In my mind I am thinking about the time this will give me to get a few household chores done. As I am doing laundry and dishes I look out the window at the little darlings...

There they are with their sand shovels and rakes...gardening away. Having a great time. So sweet. Next time I look out the window I see this...

Upon closer inspection I see this...

And this....

My first thought is: "Goodness look at that! Looks just like a little flower shop"

My second thought is: "Wait...where are all these flowers and buds coming from....and just how many are there?" I begin to look around and see many more buckets filled with flowers and buds all over the patio.

Then I look over at the plants....

And realize that every one....in the entire yard...

is bald....

That's right. Not a flower in sight. Not a bud. Nothing.

Well, except for the table and buckets. They were full of them ;/

So this story may sound familiar. I know I have talked about this subject before...but I am still dumbfounded everytime this happens.

In Target (like usual..hey, it was hot outside!) and a woman in her 40's walks up to us and looks at my twins.
Woman: "Wow" she says, "They sure do look alike. Almost like Twins."
Me: "Yes, they are twins."
Woman: (looks at my daughter) "Oh twins! I love twins! How cute...How old are you?"
(daughter says she is 4)
Woman: (looks at my son) "And how old are you?"
(son says he is 4)
woman: "Oh, you are both 4" (mild confusion on her face...looks at me) "Are they both 4?"
me: "uhh, yes"
woman: "oh, how neat" (walks away)

I never understand this.

This happens a lot. A lot more than you would think. I am perplexed?!

On a good note we managed not to destroy the Target store this time. Most of the popcorn stayed in the bag, the shopping cart was not leaving a steady stream of juice behind us, and the yelling and "I Wants" was at a minimum. Whew!

Grandma's House

So the twins are at Grandmas house for 4 days. They are on "spring break" at pre-school. (Ridiculous I know...spring break at 3 years old. Next year it will be Cancun...ha) Anyhow...yes, 4 days of freedom. What have I been doing with all my free time you may ask? Nothing...but that is a story for another day.

So 2 days have passed. I called today to talk to my little darlings and see how it is going. My son jumps on the phone and starts talking about all the wonderful things he is doing with grandma. He has visited the neighbor, fed the cat, walked to the park, gone to Wal-Mart 4 times...all very exciting when you are 3. I congratulate him on his fantastic adventures and ask to talk to his sister. It goes something like this: (Mind you she is 3 years old)

Grandma: Come to the phone, It's momma.
My kid: No, thank you.
Grandma: (laughing) It's your momma, talk to her.
My kid: Silence
Grandma: Here, take the phone.
My kid: I don't NEED the phone Grrrraaaanndmaaaa. (walks away)
Grandma: (When she finally stops laughing) Guess she doesn't want to talk to you.
Me: Well, at least she said "No, Thank you"

So on the one hand I am thrilled she is so happy at Grandma's house. It is a little vacation for her. A chance to see some new things and new places. On the other hand she could at least take 5 minutes out of her busy day to talk to her own mother!! Ohh..I had a good laugh over that one.

Ahhh Swimsuit Season...

Yay...swimsuit season is approaching. On the good side that means warm weather, the beach, kiddie pools, and garden hoses. On the down side it means I need to buy a bathing suit. Since I am now a 35 year old mother of twins I just know something like this will be extra flattering...

Nothing helps hide your figure flaws like a good string bikini. And remember...the brighter the better!

I was at Target today and took a little peek at their selection of suits. Being that it is only April I figured I was early. Lucky for me anything moderately cute was only available in XS bottoms and XL tops. Wow, just my size?! (Yeah sure...ughh..) So that left me with several fantastic options in size medium. Here is an example of what I found.

This one I know my husband will find extra sexy!

As you can guess I sadly left empty handed. Next year I guess I better start my swimsuit shopping in January.

I just want to write a quick post asking everyone to please think a positive thought for young Natalie today. She is the daughter of my good friend and next door neighbor. She is 14 years old and has a rare form of cancer called Ewing's Sarcoma. Today Natalie is fighting for her young life in an 8 hour surgery while they try to remove this cancer from her pelvis. Natalie is strong. She is a fighter. Go, Natalie, Go! We love you!

Here is the million dollar question. Why in the world do department stores put florescent lights on the ceiling in their dressing rooms? Do they NOT want to sell any clothing?

I go in feeling confident....

I come out feeling...well...something like this.

Combined with this.

I needed a dress to wear to a fancy little function we were going to. Considering I go to one a year I wanted to look nice. This was my big chance to shed the "mommy-look" for a day. I confidently walked into Macy's. Ready to find my dream dress.

Half and hour later my arms are full and I stride, smiling, into the dressing room. My first thought is, "Wow..it is bright in here". I quickly shrug off the thought and begin to undress. This is when horror strikes. There I am. Standing in my underwear. Blotchy, dimply, pale, and disgusting. Suddenly the dresses don't seen so appealing. The harsh lighting is accenting every flaw I have..or maybe even don't have?! Even my eyes look bloodshot. Oy...I almost ran out of the room. 15 minutes later I left the dressing room empty handed. Swearing I would never set foot in that torture chamber disguised as dressing room again!

I wonder....why in the world do stores not invest in proper lighting for their rooms? A little soft white light...dim and lovely. For so many obvious reasons I need not even post them here.

I just may sue Macy's for the therapy I now need to get over the trauma...hee hee

Many people have asked how I find the time...as a mom...to do my jewelry making. Here is a photo log of my techniques...

First of all I waste about $40 in bubble envelopes to keep them occupied.

This actually occupied him for quite some time!

And for my daughter...well as you can see...she is quite the little jewelry maker herself..

Pop beads are awesome!

As a matter of fact, his envelope hat was SO popular he continuted to wear it through dinner and until bedtime.

My next door neighbor coincidentally has boy/girl twins 2 years older than mine. She likes to say that I "copied" her because having multiples is so relaxing. Realistically..it's just a super weird coincidence.

...or are they just offering because it is the polite thing to do? It has been about 3 years since the event I am about to explain to you took place. I think I may have finally recovered enough to tell it. Let's see how it goes...

Picture this: Me. Alone. 3 month old twin infants. Grocery Store. Baby Bjorn.

As any parent of more than one child knows. Kids are born with their personality built right into them. We, as parents, don't get a choice. Some kids are always harder than others. This, of course, was the case with my twins. My son was (and still is) a harder kid. He's not so easy going...enough said. He was born this way. My daughter on the other hand is a quiet, easy going, little angel. She is content 99.9% of the time. Barely ever cries. You get the picture. Now...let me get on with my story.

I am in the grocery store. I have two babies...one in the car seat on the shopping cart and the other in a baby bjorn carrier. I figure I will put my son in the Bjorn since he (like I explained) is usually the one to cry. My daughter is in the carseat. I am in the store about 2 minutes. While dreamily gazing at the Hostess items all hell breaks loose. My daughter begins to scream. An ear piercing 3 month old, shrill scream. After a brief moment of shock I decide I need to get my son out of the Bjorn and get her in it. Easier said than done.

The Bjorn is like an frigging octopus. All straps and buttons and clips everywhere. I am starting to sweat profusely. I can't get the straps off. If I do get the straps off where do I set him while I put her in the Bjorn? How can I swap them both without having to set one literally on the floor? This is when "he" enters the picture...

He is your typical Orange County, CA kinda guy. Late 40's. Oozing wealth. Expensive suit. Fancy watch. Manicured nails. The whole Deal. He looks up at me and asks...Do you need help? Never thinking, I am sure, that I would say yes. But I did. Surprising the both of us I think.

I grabbed my daughter from her carseat and with perfectly straight arms I held her out to him. He gave me and then her a look that contained both shock and a bit of regret. Maybe even a tiny bit of disgust. He did take her. He held her about 3 feet out away from his body. Her little feet dangling. I finished wrestling with that Bjorn and finally won. Got my son in the seat and took her back. Thanked him for his help and carried on with my Hostess fantasies.

As he walked away I wondered though. How many times do people offer help but don't really want to give it. He was obviously raised well enough to ask. To be polite. But is it polite if the offer is not geniune?

Twins Top 10 List...

Here is a list of the top 10 stangest, funniest, and all around weird questions/statements total strangers will ask a mother of twins. And yes, they are all true. I could not make stuff up this good...

As a thrilling little side note I also added (marked by the (Me:) the first thought that popped into my head immediately after the question was asked. Thankfully for both parties involved I kept those little gems to mysef.

10. Are they twins? (Me:) No, I have two babies of exactly the same size and weight in a double stroller that are both crying, pooping, and simutaniously spitting up because it is really fun and relaxing)

9. Are they both yours? (Me: No, I stole another baby of exactly the same size and weight and purchased a double stroller for both just before coming to Longs to stand in line next to you)

8. Are they the same age? (This is after she asked me if they are twins and I said, Yes) This one stumps me to this day. Technnically, no. One is a minute older. Did she think they came out side by side at the same time?

7. Did you have a C-Section? They are big. (Me: As much as I would love to talk about my vagina with you here in the grocery store line...I think I will pass this time.)

6. You're not having any more are you? (Me: Why, because my toddlers are tearing apart this frigging candy display they have so kindly put right next to checkout just to make my life hell every time I walk in this place?)

5. Did you do IVF? (Me: Would you like me to sign a waver to all my medical records so you can call my OB and read up on my fasinating medical history?)

4. Are they identical? (This is after she asked if they were a boy & girl and I said Yes) I get this all the time. No people. One has a wiener. One does not.

3. Did they come out at the same time? (Me: WHAT?! What are you talking about. Again: You mean side by side?? I'm stumped)

2. You are so lucky. They have a built in playmate. (Me: Oh yes, because all two 3 year olds do ALL day is play play play. It's just a dream. Seriously?!)

1. Your husband must be very virile. (Me: Hi Ohhhh, wha wha what?!) The man behind us in line literally started laughing. I could not even look the woman in the eye for fear of bursting into hysterics. (BTW my husband thought it was a fantastic question.) I swore I would never do this. I can't believe I do it now. I am red faced, ashamed.

My confession...I literally destroyed Target today.

Back over 100 years ago (or so it feels) pre-kids I used to work retail. A few small, super trendy (expensive) little Newport Beach Boutiques. Fancy Schmancy huh? Not really. Moms with strollers make a mess. A disgusting, horrible, "What is the Matter with you?", mess. Crackers all over the floor, clothes pulled down, clothing piled inside out on the floor of the dressing room, dirty diapers in the corner (yes, it happened to me), sticky finger smears everywhere, and much, much more.

I would exclaim: "What is the MATTER with these people?", "This is DISGUSTING!" , and my favorite..."I would NEVER do something like that."

Fast forward to present day. In Target. Destroyed. By me.

It all begain innocently enough. Got the twins popcorn, peanut butter sandwich, and juice. Figure all that food will buy me some time to shop. Within 8 minutes the peanut butter is smeared everywhere, juice is dripping from the cart, and we have left a popcorn trail that would make Hansel and Gretel jealous.

I have no option but to start stashing dirty napkins, wrappers, and peanut butter smeared merchandise all over their shelves. My little girl sat on the remainder of her sandwich so I attempted to "cram" it in the corner of the isle. The twins are whining...I am panicking that the security cameras are picking all this up....the stress was enormous. I was a criminal. I was "THAT" person. That person I swore I would never be..... :(

Peeled Apples...

Now don't get me wrong. I love when grandma and grandpa visit. I get time to sleep, grocery shop, list items in my etsy shop, and much more! However, on this visit grandma introduced the twins to "peeled" apples. Before this they never knew such a thing existed. Now...its all they want.
Many moms will understand this immediately. For those of you who wonder, "What is the big deal?" Let me tell you.
Aside from the fact that the peel holds a great deal of the nutrients, the real reason this is so troublesome is that it creates an extra step in an already hectic day. Two toddlers can ask for things an average of 400 times a minute. To add one more request to their list just may send me over the edge.
Today my 3 year old girl asked for her apple peeled. I told her no. She whined. I said No, only grandma does that. She whined louder. I said no for a third time and asked if she wanted the apple or not. She replied, Yes, give me that gross apple if that's how its gonna be, M-O-M. I think she even gave me an eye roll. (I had a flash of what she will be like at 14)
That leads me to the topper of this entire story. I had her in the grocery store with me today. While in the produce section a nice older woman asked her about the fruit we were chosing. My little girl looked at the woman and told her in a very matter-of-fact way..."My mom only feeds us fruit the gross way, she's not nice like grandma."
I'm still speechless...

The "Cougar"

Ladies...how old do we have to be now to be in the "cougar" classification? I saw a preview on t.v. just the other night about a show featuring...you guessed it..."cougars" and 20 something men. Now mind you these women were gorgeous and looked to be about 30-35 MAX. This whole cougar thing perplexes me...

I saw Drew Barrymore on a talk show the other day and she said women in their late 40's were cougars and that the 30 something crowd are now pumas. What what?? Is it just me or is this whole cougar thing out of hand?

I began thinking about this topic because a neighbor of mine (male, 40) was giving me a hard time about seeing the Twilight movie(See post below). He said...and I quote "Only two types of people see Twilight. Teens and cougars. I will let you figure out which one you are". After a gasp of shock I looked at him and squeeled..."Are you calling me a cougar?" Him: Raises eyebrows, silence. Me: Really?! A COUGAR? Him: Snickers, silence. Me: No Really...tell me...I'm too young. I'm only 35. Him: starting to laugh. Me: Staring...(plotting his slow painful death in my mind) ........and that was that. The first time I was ever called a cougar.

So what do you think about this whole cougar thing? Offended by it? Proud of it? Should it have clear age specifications?

While I am waiting for comments I will go slather on some more anti-aging face creams...just in case.

The "Haircut"

Ok...so my 3 yr old twins cut their hair today. This is devastating. First of all let me begin by telling you that my little girl BARELY has any hair. It is thin, wispy, and grows in spurts all over her head. It was finally beginning to take shape when....yes...they cut it. She now has a mullet. "Business in the front, party in the back" MULLET! I mean a true, Billy Ray Cyrus....Bangs SUPER short. Sides SUPER short. Back long...mullet :(

So what do you do? It has taken over 3 years to get her this far. Do I cut it all off...do we deal with a mullet? I have decided to sleep on this one....

My son came out a bit better. He has a 3 inch bald spot on the top left of his head...but he of course has tons of hair that grows at the speed of light. His will work itself out in no time.

Now ladies and gents...let me get to the real reason I am writing this. My hubby. (Do you all know what's coming next?) He walks in from work, looks at the mullet, looks and me and say's "What Happened?" I reply..."They cut their hair" (half choked up from sadness and disbelief still). His next question is (YES?!) "What were you doing?" .......

After a brief pause (I had a quick fantasy about strangling him to death) I replied..

"Oh, yes dear...where shall I begin? Well first I....."

*Slept til noon
*quietly ate a lovely breakfast while reading
*took a leisurly shower
*got dressed in my best outfit
*went shopping for myslf
*got a mani/pedi
*ate bon bons and sipped a latte
*took a nap
*and patiently waited for my darling hubby to come home

All the while I am standing there with bags under my eyes, food crusted to my shirt, dirty hair twisted into a sloppy ponytail, and sweatpants that just may get up and walk out the door on their own....

I think he got my point....

Ahhh Twilight...what can I say?! I am embarrased to admit I am a huge fan of the entire series. As a matter of fact I managed to read all the books (6-700+ pages each) in a matter of 2 weeks. This is no small task when you have twin toddlers at home.
The books are like an addiction. I was a crazy person. All I could think about was Edward and Bella...Oh my, what will happen next?? Like a bad soap opera..the books suck you in and don't let go.
Now mind you I am a 35 year old woman. (This is gettting embarrasing) I had Edward fantasies. I started comparing my husband to Edward. I would think "Edward would help me do the dishes, wash the dog, wipe poopy butts." Why is my husband just sitting on the couch?
It gets worse...I saw the movie twice. Me and fifty 14 year old girls...sitting in the theater...all squeeling with joy and anticipation. My (male 40) friend told me only two types of people go to see the Twilight movie. "Teen girls and Cougars...I'll let you figure out which one you are." I reply "A COUGAR?!...At 35??"
Whatever....that is a whole different story.
My point is I love Twilight...and I will not hide it any longer. They are fun books. They are an escape. They give us the fairytale we all want to hear. In the hectic life of a mom....what the heck is wong with that?!
